“You don’t have to say anything.” She said softly, tilting her head slightly to the side as she looked at the boy laying directly across from her. He completely puzzled her yet she couldn’t get enough of his confusing behavior. Desperately, Sophia wanted to get to know him better, truly know him and she felt like she was beginning to break through his barrier. “Thanks.” Sophia responded, a soft smile revealing perfectly aligned teeth. “You’re quite the guy, you know?” She laughed, bitting down on her lesser lip as she silently wished he’d open his eyes.

“I am not quite the guy.” He said softly, whispering instead of actually speaking. In the darkness, he felt comfortable speaking about anything, partly because she really couldn’t see him correctly. In the light, however, there was no absolute way that he would talk about his problems. He felt comfortable in his own skin right now, and the bad lighting only helped all the more. “You know…” He started, biting his lower lip in hesitation. “…when I first saw you I thought you were one of those– girls. One of those girls that liked painting her nails and talking about Mean Girls. I’m glad you’re not.”
