“You are.” She nodded, not quite arguing but just making sure she got it through to him that he really was a great person even if he didn’t think so. His words caught her by surprise even though she’d heard that stereotype many times before. It wasn’t something she was proud of portraying because she worried people got the wrong idea just from looking at her. “Oh.” Sophia nodded before speaking again. “I hope I’m not totally bursting your bubble, but I have seen Mean Girls and I do paint my nails.”
“Stop it.” He said, but it wasn’t a sort of demanding tone, it was more of a gentle one. Frankly, he didn’t really know how to respond to compliments, they had always been his weak spot in social confrontations. He’d rather stay quiet whenever someone said something, instead of expressing his gratitude or returning it. “Oh.” Was all he could say as he raised both their hands up so he could take a good look at the tint on her nails. “I see. Is Mean Girls a good movie? I’ve not really took the time out to watch it. Lupe tells me it’s good, but I never take her word for movie recommendations. She likes desperate love stories.”
